For over 30 years, Jean Aguilar has inspired young artists as the Visual Arts instructor at Saint Mary’s High School in Stockton, where she has also served as Fine Arts Department Chair for more than 15 years. A lifelong artist and educator, Jean’s passion for the visual arts is at the heart of her teaching philosophy.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from California State University, Long Beach, and continues to pursue her own creative practice alongside her teaching career.

Jean is the founder of The Art Room, that began as an after-school, year-round program designed to nurture artistic exploration in elementary-aged students. She also started the first summer art camp that introduces children ages seven and up to a variety of creative techniques at St. Mary’s High School.

Her students regularly participate in local and national art competitions, earning numerous awards and recognition for their outstanding work. Many of Jean’s former students have gone on to study art at prestigious universities and pursue successful careers as professional artists.
